House Cleaning - Stain Removal Tips

Whether you have kids and pets or you live alone, you will find that there are times when things just spill. Maybe it was thanks to the breeze, or maybe you were just more clumsy than you should have been, but then you turn around and see that your coffee pot has gone over or that there is now chocolate on your furniture. Although your first instinct might be to stop and to shout, the truth of the matter is that the faster you get started with stain removal, the better off you are going to be. Stain removal and understanding stain removal is an important part of house cleaning. Take a moment and make sure that you understand what needs to happen.

Coffee Stains
First, let's talk about coffee stains. Coffee stains are usually called non-greasy stains and if you have gotten coffee on a washable fabric, all you need to do is to sponge the stain with cool water or to soak it in cool water as soon as you can. You might be able to soak the stain out completely, but if it is stubborn, you can use a mild detergent into it. Remember that bleach should always be the last resort.

Red Wine Stain
When you are looking at house cleaning and you want to get rid of a red wine stain, all you need to do is to mix 1 cup of water with half a cup of hydrogen peroxide. Then add a little bit of dishwashing detergent. Pour the mix into a spray bottle and put it directly on the stain itself. Then all you need to do is to watch as the red in the stain disappears. This is a very handy trick to pick up and to use when necessary.

Chocolate Stain
When it comes to stain removal, chocolate has a bit of a bad reputation. Chocolate is greasy and when you are housecleaning, you need to pay special attention. For example, you should let the chocolate dry and then you should scrape it up with a butter knife. Put several layers of paper towels over the stained area and then run an iron on low heat over it. This causes the chocolate to melt and the heat will pull it into the towel. Remember that the iron should be barely hot. You can repeat this treatment until the stain is completely gone.

Pet Urine
Finally, when you are thinking about house cleaning, you are also going to need to worry about pet urine. First, start by blotting the entire wet area with towels and then pour a small amount of liquid detergent over it. Rub it just enough to remove the stain. Then mix a quart of warm water with half a cup of white vinegar. Pour this over the stained area as well and then use clean paper towels to blot it dry.
